New Cisco WLAN Controller Software Available

Two interesting software releases happened very recently. This does NOT cover “Converged Access” with WLAN controller services on an IOS platform nor does it cover Cloud Managed Meraki.

Cisco AireOS (WLAN Controller Code) version 7.4 “Maintenance Release 2” (7.4.121.0)

  • Designated MD (Maintenance Deployment). New features or device support will not be added, only bug fixes.
  • Certified Assurewave. This code has passed rigorous testing of simulated environments found in Healthcare, Enterprise, Retail, and Higher Education
  • This is the recommended code version for MOST 802.11n deployments
  • Supported Controllers: CT2500, CT5500, CT7500 (this model is FlexConnect only), CT8500, Virtual WLC (this model is FlexConnect only), WiSM2
  • Supported AP’s: 1040, 1130, 1140, 1240, 1250, 1260, 1600, 2600, 3500, 3600, OEAP600, C860W, C880W, C890W, 1520, 1550

Cisco AireOS version 7.6 “Maintenance Release 2” (7.6.120.0)
